Supported platforms and minimum system requirements
Prerequisites and authority
Local installation authority, a complete approved release package, working Docker and access to the deployment record are required. Preserve existing data before installation/update/removal.
Prepare a supported host
Windows and Linux are the intended installer platforms. Use an operating system and CPU architecture supported by the chosen release and its Docker images. The release compatibility record must identify exact OS versions before production installation; a script existing in the repository is not proof that every distribution works.
The intended v1.0.0 host scope is Windows 10/11 and x86-64 Ubuntu LTS. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and 26.04 LTS are the proposed initial Linux versions, not a claim of compatibility with every distribution. Keep release-specific installation results separate from the support scope. Windows requires a maintained Docker/WSL combination capable of Linux containers; BryanNet does not extend Microsoft's Windows security lifecycle.
Windows 10 reached the end of ordinary Microsoft support on 14 October 2025. Check applicable extended security support and the selected Docker runtime's current requirements before using it for a production server. Prefer a currently maintained host. See Microsoft's Windows lifecycle and Docker's platform prerequisites. Docker lists Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 LTS among its supported Engine hosts; see its Ubuntu installation guide.
On Windows, install a Docker runtime capable of running the supplied Linux containers and complete its virtualization prerequisites. Start Docker before launching BryanNet. On Linux, install Docker Engine and Compose v2 and confirm that the intended operator can use them.
Run these non-mutating checks on either platform:
docker version
docker info
docker compose version
The client and server must both respond. A Docker client version alone does not show that the daemon is running. Permission errors on Linux and a stopped Docker Desktop on Windows must be resolved first.
The Linux installer checks for curl, unzip, python3 and sha256sum, including when installing from local payloads. The complete Linux installer package includes its manifest, deployment bundle and Docker image archive. It verifies the local files and loads the bundled images without downloading replacement payloads. Install Docker, Compose and the required host tools before an offline installation. Online release retrieval and external integrations still require their respective network connections.
Prepare stable power, sufficient SSD space, a backup destination, the license and a reachable router management path. Record the installation location, administrator URL and recovery-key custodian. Use Deployment sizing by workload for workload sizing and Install bundle contents and offline installation for bundle requirements.
